FILES IN THE DIRECTORIES ~guest/GENEALOGY AND ~guest/GENEALOGY/SKR-papers ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [NOTE: The Renion web-card display of a genealogy database presents information in two formats: Person Sheets and Family Cards. These show the same information, except Person Sheets can have also notes relating to an individual. The database can be navigated from either Person Sheets or Family Cards by clicking on highlighted names. If viewing a Person Sheet, to shift to a Family Card format, click on "Web Family Card" in the bottom line of the display. If viewing a Family Card, to shift to the corresponding Person Sheet, click on the name of either husband or wife (bold large-point text). The bottom line of the display has clickable links to an index of all entries in the database and to a list of surnames.] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Web-Cards-Ruud12-050708-GED These web cards display a database of descendants and ancestors of Carl Oliver Ruud and Eloise McKay Ruud and of their siblings and cousins, assembled by their son, Frederick Olin Ruud. The database has 4470 records. It was obtained on 05/07/2008, as a GED file. The data can be accessed at www.familysearch.org. Web-Cards-kendigall-stripped-sources The database displayed in these web cards is a merge of two databases: (1) a genealogical tree of Kendig ancestors and relatives compiled by Harry Mortimer Rupley (HMR), probably based on information from his grandmother, Mary Magdalena (Martha) Kendig Rupley (MMKR); and (2) a large database of Kendig descendants compiled by Thomas E. Kendig, principal of Kendig Light Industries (KLI). The HMR data are given in Vol. 3 of Samuel Kendig Rupley papers (see below). There are 321 entries. The KLI data used in the merge are from a master file, "kedigall.ged" downloaded on 02/21/2009 from www.kendig.info, with 9294 records of Kendig ancestors, descendants, and relatives (some distant). The file was reduced to 1713 records by eliminating all not direct descendants or ancestors of John Jacob Kundig (Kendig) b. 1693 and by rationalizing some duplicate records. All source references were stripped. The merged database has flags (KLI and HMR) indicating the source of each record. There are 1960 records. Ca. 250 records (Kendig descendants) are from the HMR data and are not in the KLI database. For the ca. 70 records for which the KLI and HMR sources overlap, flags indicate if the sources differ. [NOTE: The gedcom file "kedigall.ged" available currently (06/30/2011), at http://home.comcast.net/~tomkendig/roots/kendigall/index.htm, has 4405 entries.] Web-Cards-rupley-kendig-4 The database "rupley-kendig-4", with 323 records, is a selective merge of the following: (1) the database "kendigall-stripped-sources" (see above), itself a merge of data from HMR and KLI; (2) ancestors of John Jacob Rupley, the father of Samuel Rupley, from the LDS site www.familysearch.org; (3) genealogical data recorded by Allen Shurter Rupley (ASR), given in Vol. 3 of SKR papers (see below); (4) ancestors of Ila Eloise Ruud Rupley (IER), from the database "Ruud12-050708-GED" (see above); (5) data on the ancestors of Juliette Zanker Rupley (JZR), wife of ASR, from interviews of JZR with IER. The selection of records for inclusion in the database is as follows: (1) Samuel Kendig Rupley (SKR) and his wife Mary Magdalena Kendig Rupley (MMKR) are the center point of ancestor and descendant trees; (2) include only direct ancestors of SKR and MMKR and their siblings and spouses, e.g., aunts and uncles of SKR, great-aunts and great-uncles, etc., but not cousins of SKR and MMKR; (3) include siblings of SKR and MMKR and their spouses; (4) include descendants of SKR and their spouses, occasionally with ancestral records for spouses and their cousins. This database is likely to be expanded in the future, e.g., with ancestral records for more spouses of descendants of SKR, and with additional details for records already in the database. [The other two databases of this directory (see above) are unlikely to change significantly.] SKR-papers This directory has three pdf files: 1-Section-library-congress-Binder9-opt.pdf Telegrams and Military Memorabilia of Samuel Kendig Rupley, Donated to the Library of Congress. 2-Section-skr-papers-Binder7-opt.pdf Personal Papers and Letters of Samuel Kendig Rupley. 3-Section-genealogy-Binder11-opt.pdf Genealogical Information relating to Ancestors and Descendants of Samuel Kendig Rupley: Rupley and Kendig ancestors and the Rupley, Schwartz and Wyatt descendants of S. K. Rupley. This file includes the genealogical tree constructed by HMR and the genealogical information assembled by ASR.
