HOW TO FORMAT A SET OF RECIPES, GENERATING A COOKBOOK.

To generate a PS-format cookbook from recipes in tmac.recip format, run

	rcbook.t
	rcbook.t -f	to ensure fractions = 1/2, etc., ``..'' -> "..", etc.
	rcbook.t -V	to bypass news extractor filter

The file Cookbook.ps will be produced in the working directory.
To view:

	gv Cookbook.ps

To generate and view an ascii text file:

	rcbook.n
	more Cookbook.nroff

We assume that a directory with rcbook.t is on the PATH
and that the Makefile variables have been configured correctly.

There are various options for rcbook.t:

	-N update based on files newer than file Last.update
			in working directory;
			generate Update.ps instead of Cookbook.ps

	-p "str"	append additional post-processing of troff output
			to default:
				| grops -pletter ..... str

	-P "str"	replace all postprocessing by "str", and send
			output to stdout, unless include redirection in
			"str"

	-t "str"	add "str" = groff-troff options to troff command line;
			e.g., "str" = "\-a " to generate draft text output

	[dirpath]	path to directory with recipes;
			all recipes must have names beginning with
			lower-case letter;
			overrides default setting of KEEPDIR=DEFDIR

	-v set VERBATIM=0, to extract recipes from usenet
			postings, or a mix of postings and standard
			recipe files (VERBATIM == EXTRACTOR)

	-V		opposite of -v

	-f fractions as 1/2, etc; quotes as "..."; etc.

	and more...	for information on options, and for other details,
			see the shell script "rcbook.t"

HOW TO WRITE A RECIPE FILE IN TMAC.RECIP = ALT.GOURMAND STYLE.

Consider several of all of the following:

	1) look at recipes formatted by others;

	2) fill in the blanks in a file that is a copy of "[. ][Mm]ast.recipe";

	3) read the man page, "recipes.5".

HOW TO CONFIGURE THE PROGRAM SCRIPTS.

Go to the Programs directory:
	cd (dirpath)/Programs

Set "Makefile" variables to correct values for system and recipes;
particularly:
	OBJDIR TEMPDIR BOOKTITLE DEFDIR DEFPATH
	DEFTROFF METRIC EXTRACTOR COVERPAGE

Run the command
	make clean
which removes currently configured files.

Run the command
	make configure
which runs "configure.sh" with the variables set as in the Makefile,
generating the properly configured program scripts:
	rcbook.t.X	->	rcbook.t
	rctypeset.X	->	rctypeset
